TICK TOCK!

Time is vigorously ticking as Yr6 approach their final days at Glade Primary. Although, until the time comes Yr6 have plenty of busy days of solid script-learning for our school play called The Lion King:

Then the following day after school we're going to have our Yr6 annual leavers disco.

Picture request

Mr Molloy is in the process of creating a Year 6 leavers slideshow. He has many pictures from the last few years. Unfortunately, we do not have many pictures from when the children were in Reception or Nursery (this was before we had digitial cameras at the school).

If you have any photographs from around this era, can Mr Molloy borrow them to scan in, and include in the leavers slideshow. Please provide photos in an envelope with your name on.

We would like:

  • Photos taken at school events or trips. We are not really after photos of private parties, etc.
  • Photos with as many children in as possible. It would not be fair to have a slideshow of just one-or two children, over and over.
  • Class Photos.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. If you have any fantastic pictures from later years, they may also be suitable for inclusion (especially if they are digital and don't need scanning in)

AquaSplash

Yesterday, the moment we saw AquaSplash the children started screaming and shouting with joy. We started off by doing ice skating and a few children like Jack and Amber were brilliant at it! They helped lots of children and nearly half of the class got the hang of it. Even Mr Fraser and Mrs Allen got the hang of it (Mr Molloy was brilliant). Lots of the children held on to the wall but then started to skate with some of the childrens help. They felt really proud and started to help the others around the huge ice rink! After falling, slipping and laughing, the children moved to go bowling after taking the awkward shoes off (oh,how our toes felt!).

Again, the children took their shoes off and put on their bowling shoes on. The teachers put the children into groups and everybody started bowling. In teachers Mr Molloy won! Some children never done bowling but when they done it in Aquasplash they were brilliant! The bowling was really fun and after the busy morning the children settled down to have their lunch.

After our lunch, the fun part arrived...Swimming! The children got changed into their swimming costume and they dashed into all sorts of places such as the lazy river and all the rides! Most of the children went on the slides, which were very fun! There were some scary rides that a few children went on and some rides when the water pushes you. You can't stop yourself. Its really funny when you go falling down the slides without you knowing it. Most of the children went upside down! Really funny when you are watching them.

The children didn't want to go back home after the crazy afternoon but we had to. So everybody went back home, hairs dripping wet in the coach and chatting about the day at Aquasplash.

We really enjoyed the trip to Aquasplash!!!

Lambourne End

We met in the classroom and the teachers put us in groups and gave us wristbands. Then we set off to Lambourne End, the coach was nice and comfortable it took 20 minutes to get there. When we arrived it was boiling. We met some of the Lambourne End staff and went to our first activity. There were three activities; archery, teambuilding and a rope course. The staff showed us how to load and shoot in archery, at the end of the day about 6 people had hit the bullseye in archery.

In teambuilding we had to help each other over a high wall, there were three of these wall one higher than the rest, we also had to go a distance of about 5-10 metres by using just 5 tyres. Some groups had to get through a large spider web without touching it.

Last but not least was the ropes course in which we had to get to the other side of a lake, without falling into the water, there were three tests around ten people fell in for example Josaphat, Umar,Zain,Agash,Simran and Abraham, the water was muddy and deep though no one drowned. It was a really exciting day and most of us liked it.

The Lion King

This week in year 6 we have been practicing our school play, which is, The Lion King! We are lucky enough to have Mrs Robinson (music teacher) teaching us all the songs, as well as her son (Ellis) teaching us the proper Thriller dance which he learnt from the background dancer with Michael Jackson!

We also want to share some of the cast:

. Simba when he was a cub - Marium 6w
. Simba when he is an adult - Qasim 6m
. Simba's Mum - Phoebe 6w
. Mufasa - Jordon 6m
. Timon - Kamile 6w
. Pumbaa-Benita 6w
. Rafiki- Cameron 6m
. Zazu - Aaran 6w
.Nala when was young - Ayse 6m
.Nala when was an adult - Callie 6m
. The hyena - Patrice, Harpreet and Chante (Main Charecters)

As well as practicing our play, we also did some really really arty subjects. Such as maths stars, model of a volcanoe and a book cover for our finished class book, Kensuke's Kingdom. We are really enjoying our time at school as we have finished giving evidence to our secondary school.

So this is what all the Year 6 children have been doing, while our teachers have been levelling our work.

Science Day!!!

This week in Year6, we had one particular day we all enjoyed. Which was... Science day!!! We had to have this day for our A.P.P work, for our secondary school and to level up our work. We had to go to 4 different scenarios which were:

  • Nature Garden with Mrs. Robeens

  • Ice Cube test with Mrs. Allen

  • Magnet test with Ms. Willers

  • And weight test with Mr. Clarkson

The nature Garden.

During the nature garden process, we were trying to ask scientific questions about the nature in our world. We also had to make up a experiment using the questions

The Ice Cube test.

In this scenario we had to find a powerful material to melt the ice cube. The materials were: polystyrene, bubble wrap and polystyrene sticks. After the test we concluded that polystyrene melted the ice cube the quickest.

Magnet test.

In this scenario we had to see which was the strongest magnet. We found out that, the 'U' shaped magnet was the best to use. Then, we wrote down the results on a sticky note and filled it in with our results. We also had fun after our investigation.

Weight test.

Finally, we visited Mr. Clarkson. Here we had to experiment if weight matters when things fall down. We had a choice of paper, rice, water and lentils weighing different weights. After all the experiments( in this scenario) we found out that weight doesn't matter but the surface are does.

After all our hard work. We were relieved to just colour and make our 3D shape on Maths day.

#Hurray!#
