The Week Before Christmas...

This week at Glade was so jam-packed with treats that it felt like it was Christmas already. In Year 6, we watched DVD 's, made Christmas cards, wrote poetry and had our Christmas party.

Year 6 and Year 5 had their parties together and danced until they could dance no more! It was fun, after fun, after fun and one of the best parts of it all was when most of the teachers performed to the children, a comedy version of Cinderella! It was absolutely hilarious! We had our Christmas assembly on Friday and all the classes showed their beautiful work that they had done over the last weeks. Year 6 had been working on perfomance poetry and they perfomed to the school a poem called,'Talking Turkeys' written by a well-known poet, Benjamin Zephaniah. Overall, I think it's safe to say that all the children, especially in Year 6, had a great time and look forward to the Christmas Holidays! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you next year!

A visit from the police...

Recently in year 6, we entered a London Road Safety Competition in which we had to make posters for the 2009 London Road Safety Calendar. After waiting for a couple of weeks, we received a reply from the Metropolitan police and the London Road Safety crew. We had a visit from them on the Monday 10th November. The London Road Safety team and two member of the metropolitan police talked to us about the importance of road safety and the dangers too. At the end, they thanked us for posters we made and announced the winners of the competition. The four finalists were Alyesha Moodley, Foluso Falola, Cathryn Bowyer and Joe Walder. They received a certificate and were congratulated for their effort. But our overall winner was Foluso Falola, 6P. He was given £10 and a certificate too. As for the other participants that took part, they received a certificate for effort and for participating in the competition. After the assembly, Year 6 were lucky enough to get the chance to look at their police car and road safety van. All in all, it was a very fun and a educational experience.

Black United Kids

In October, we celebrated Black History Month with a special dance group called Black United Kids.

Classes 3, 4, 5 and 6 were lucky enough to have a special dance workshop with the dance teachers.
The dance teachers, Sunny, Loraine and Lauren (who used to be a student at Glade) helped the Key stage 2 children learn some Bashment, Street Dance and Banghra.
At the end of the day, the classes performed a great dance routine to the rest of the school and the teachers were asked to dance along with them!
