Bonfire night

This week in Yr6 we have been learning about Bonfire night and the stories behind it.Bonfire night is a special night in British history.

I will now tell you the story of why we have something called bonfire night, and why we celebrate bonfire night.

Once long ago there was a king, named king James. He was Christian but he didn't like the Catholic faith. King was a very unpopular person ,therefore not a lot of people admired him.

King James reign started when Queen Elizabeth I sadly passed away.

After a few years a gang of men plotted to murder the king directly under his chair by using plenty of gunpowder.
They came extremely close to killing the king but were and brutally dealt with when the police and the king. But Guy Fawkes( one of the culprits)was hurt the most. Guy Fawkes was hanged by a pole.

Hope you enjoyed our summary.
